Boy Oh Boy I Love Boys

In honor of almost ready to pop Mothergoosemouse (one of the masterminds behind the Parent Bloggers Network, where I‘m actually posting about their latest offering The Ultimate Tea Diet over on Lather.Rinse.Repeat. right now, where you'll find out EXACTLY why I stopped drinking coffee), today is the day we moms of little boys are talking about what is great and special about having sons. And, I think I outta know…my two boys are pretty special if I do say so myself.

And, thus, here are some random and completely off the cuff references about the fun and unique aspects of Boyville that I’ve talked about many different times here. They sure provide a lot of great stories!

  • Boys are routinely dirtier. Girls can get super dirty, yes. But boys seem destined for attracting multiple layers of grime and yuck, without seemingly being bothered by this at all.
  • I warned you people…morning wood happens YOUNG. And if little boys share a room with each other, they discuss it. This is not the first time a mom will learn that penises are unpredictable.
  • If in the middle of a boring activity, boys will moon no less than 40 people to lighten the mood (I wish I was kidding on this one, I have to tell this story next week I think, it’s pretty good)

It’s a drop in the bucket, to talk about all the great and wonderful things about having boys. I’m at the beginning of the journey, and what a lovely journey it has been so far. I love those little dudes, and they sure make being a mom a lot of fun (and a lot of work!), it’s a fantastic adventure!

Dern mommy blogs... ;)

Boys are an interesting adventure. I know... I was one once. Of course... as the saying goes, men are just boys with bigger toys...

No kids here, but my husband's family sure is good at producing boys. Out of two generations there are nine boys and one girl! If we ever do have a child it seems likely to be another boy.

I'll take your word on them being fun as children - I grew up with just a sister - but I can tell you for certain they are still fun when they get together as adults. We always have a good time when PDM and his four brothers are in the same place.

Perfect photo too!

It's not a fluke that boy rhymes with joy. =)

Now I'm off to read the stories behind your links.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm a little nervous about my own boy who will show up in a few short months. I'm scared of the visits to the ER, potty training, dirt...but I'm excited about a lot of the other things! =)

I'm laughing! Boys are sure comfortable in their own skin. I've lost count of how many toddler boys I've seen yank down their shorts in public when they were ready "to go".

I never thought I would enjoy the tackling, potty talk, and playing with trucks and trains as much as I do!

Thanks for joining in on the shower fun.

Adorable post! I too have learned a bit from my dirty, accident prone, cuddly little guy.

BTW Hope your husband is ok.

I have both a boy and girl. Though we try to raise them the same, there are certainly differences.

My son got his first black eye at 14-months. Got another one a few months later. I was oddly proud of his battle scars from the fight he had with the stairs, the side of the door. He was running too fast each time, and he wasn't watching where he was going. Go figure. No wonder our mommy hearts are constantly in our throats when we're with our sons.

I think you forgot how deeply they can be in love with their mothers.

A good thing for you!

I loved this post! Smiles and tears (yes, I read or reread every link). Interestingly, my boy is the daredevil, but my girl is the one who goes to the ER.

One thing stood out - boys smashing and demolishing even with toys that aren't made for that. All things are "guys" that fall around here. At work, all things are tie fighters.

funny stuff -- I have two boys and we can't get through dinner without a monty python or a simpsons reference

"Boys will be able to work a Star Wars reference in while being wheeled into surgery"

That's pure genius!

I will raise a houseful of boys BEFORE I will raise another girl!!!
I swear! For all the reasons you stated and then some.

hmmmmmm I could add a few "boy" things to this list...but on second thought, I guess I shouldn't get started..lmao.

As much as they drive me insane, I wouldn't give up gremlin #2 or the gnome for anything.

SO true...it's interesting to compare my son and daughter and I think the most interesting thing to me is that my son is actually just as sensitive if not more so than my daughter. Go figure! I think that bodes well for future girlfriends. Did I just say girlfriends? SMACK ME.
