I've never thought of myself as a "mommyblogger" since the kids comprise a smaller rather than larger percentage of my post topics. I'm more a "mom who blogs" and I deplore the term mommyblogger anyway because I think it is largely used in a condescending and judgmental way by mainstream media. Yeah, I have kids and I have a blog. So what? You got a problem with that, you can click your little self right on outta here.
There's a lot of layers to me, though. But you won't get me shrinking away from the title of "mom" either, because I'm proud and happy to be a mom. I love these kids to pieces, even when they're driving me mad!
To that end, I'm shoving some kiddie hijinks down your collective throats because aside from all the craziness in my schedule lately, there's been year end kid stuff to attend. I've got video of the whole crew, doing on thing or another.
Emersyn is my tomboy. She likes to wear dresses sometimes, but usually she likes to get dirty, have her hair looking like a ragamuffin, kick off her shoes, and she's become a video game addict as of late. When I had the girls at the salon for dance stuff, there is a huge difference. Sammie could, at age 5, revel in an entire spa day. Nails, hair, makeup, massage...seriously, she loves the beauty and pampering of every aspect of it. Emersyn, well, she thinks it's pretty much torture.
Sammie and Zach had a year end patriotic concert over in the next town over in their big American Legion Hall. The entire orchestra from where they take their private violin lessons puts on a selection of patriotic American tunes, the Legions guys do a flag ceremony, a lot of people turn out for it, the kids dress in the ol' red, white and blue...it's really a great concert. Sammie was the only soloist this year, she (the director) starts with the littlest ones and has this be their debut concert. She did two songs in front of at least 500 people. Not one bit of nerves!! (And yes, she's still plucking and has a little more way to go before she starts learning bowing)
Zach and Haste tested for their next belts and had to break boards. Haste had to, for the first time, attempt to break a board with his fist (which he did) then he had a couple spin kicks he had to do with two more boards and he didn't quite do it. Zach advanced and this time, he had to put a spin in before his kick and he managed to break a board again. He was Kung Fu Fighting.
Haste finished up his 6th year of piano really great last week with his recital. There were eleven students performing who all take lessons from the same gal. He and another guy had their pieces memorized which is not required, but it was pretty cool. Of course, his nerves got him a little and he made a couple mistakes (after playing it perfectly at home I don't know how many times!! grrrr) but I'm really proud of how hard he worked on his song.
Wednesday is the last day of school, and it's not even a half day, they dismiss at 11:50AM. Stay tuned as I complain how much these guys eat all day...

Great "end of the year" wrap up.
Thanks or sharing and brace yourself for summer vacation, lol
Sounds to me like you got your entertainment group set up already.
You & KHG can compare food bills over the summer. LOL As she says Ma, I just don't understand why I have to feed them, since the school decided to close for the summer THEY should help pay for the food." LOL Thats her.
great videos. Hope your summer is awesome. We get out on Thursday, and it's a whole day.
Great video's!
And what is it with kids and eating thier way through summer?
Wow. Their school year ends already????
We'll complain together about how much the kids eat while on summer vacation. Oy.
Dern mommyblog... :P
I doubt we'll hear you complain much about the kiddos this summer. If it goes the way most summers do, you'll be complaining that "they're all headed back to school" and "where'd the summer go?" first.
Although you might complain that your gas bill from ferrying them around to the various activities rivals that of the construction job...
Ahhh, I love the proud mommy posts the best :) What a neat group of kids you have!
No wonder it's so hot down here it's all that beaming you are doing! You must feel proud!
And I know you have many layers, you're like a parfait!

These are great videos!!! You have a band of very talented children. I'm sure you are very proud!
We don't get out of school for another 3 weeks. I love that b/c it is less time I have to feed, entertain, and find daycare for them. Another couple of years and Chile #1 can be in charge.
Wow school is out already! The twins finish next week.
I think it's great that you are a mommy who blogs and there is nothing wrong with wanting to share the accomplishments of your children who have obviously given you much to be proud of. I say keep it up!
I am a dad who blogs. I may not mention my children all the time, but they are what makes my life revolve and if I feel like dedicating a post to the, a guess that's my prerogative. And this is where I will try to stop myself from quoting Bobby Brown.
At the end of that, they are our blogs, right ;-) Great videos. I had no idea they taught kids to pluck before using the bow. That's pretty cool!!
And now, I will end this 'War and Peace,' 'Hey Jude' version of a comment.
I love, love the videos! You should share what you are proud of and those kids clearly give you a lot of things to take pride in.
You know what, I totally agree with the "mommyblogger" thing. I was blogging for almost five years before I became a mommy! You'd think I'd actually have some readership by now, lol.
I <3 your kids.
"it hurts 80"
I think I may use that line!!
great videos. joy and accomplishment and just being great kids.
What a wonderful blogger you are - sharing happiness AND clearly a great Mom.
Terrific! all 4 vids, as are all 4 kids!
My niece's mother pointed out to me the importance of having her own identity acknowledged, now and then, apart from being just 'Mom.'
Summer vacations growing up, when swim lessons were over, my siblings and I were back and forth between the TV and the food in the kitchen every morning. I don't know how we didn't end up overweight.
Oh, and Emersyn, darling? Pain is beauty, beauty is pain, dear LOL.
I'd mommyblog if I had any kids. Not likely at this point in my life, so I have to settle for catblogging.
Myself, I don't consider "mommyblogger" to be pejorative. Mainstream media treats us all condescendingly, anyway. They think we're all part of some silly little fad that keeps "serious" writers from getting the attention they deserve.
You might as well admit that you're a mommyblogger. Life is much easier that way. Trust me. I've long since decided I'm a daddyblogger.
All the vid's are great, it is sooo neat to see all the progress. Thanks for sharing Sunshine, it brought a smile to my face.
Enjoyed!!! Haste is becoming quite the pianist. Tell him Nan and Pop loved it. And tell Zach we won't mess with him............
Wow. Great videos. I can't believe how grown up they've become.
